Mr. Devine has 25 years auto industry experience with General Motors, engaging in organization transformation, operations planning, business process improvement and large-scale project leadership. In his work in these areas, Dave has engaged in and led significant projects addressing business case development, business and IT transformation, production planning, assembly plant scheduling, sales and operations planning, IT systems development and organizational development and transformation.
Dave has worked in the global stage, with assignment not only in the U.S., but also in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and in the Asia-Pacific. Among his specific assignments, Dave introduced new vehicle ordering processes and systems in three European countries producing over $35 million in savings for GM. As short-cycle sales manager in a European assignment, he led the sale of over 250,000 Opel, Vauxhall, and Daewoo vehicles. In the Asia-Pacific, he created and led a regional order fulfillment organization of 100 persons who scheduled and sequenced over 4 million vehicles and 6 million powertrains. In another unusual assignment, Dave led the GM Asia-Pacific response team managing the issues brought on by the Japan Tsunami, avoiding production losses for GM from the disaster in both the Asia-Pacific and globally. Also, Dave led a GM global cross-functional project to identify ways to better utilize supplier purchased capacity, optimize capacity of management components, perform demand planning, and refine integrated business planning capabilities. This assignment called on his skills and experience in business case development, solution evaluation and detailed business process design.
Dave earned a Bachelor of Arts from Alma College and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy. He is involved in numerous Michigan civic and community organizations. For Alma College, Dave has served as a Trustee, a member of the Alumni Board and as a member of the President’s Advisory Council. He is a member of the Detroit Athletic Club, the Indianwood Golf and Country Club, Michigan Squash where he has served on the Board of Directors and as Secretary, the Winston Churchill Society and Racquet Up Detroit.
